Close call

Nico was in shock, or maybe not shock, since he could still move his arms that at the moment were burning under the pressure Kerry was putting on the reins. He had been riding the stallion for a couple of weeks but usually the experience would be much more straining on his legs, since the lazy bastard did nothing on his own. Nico had been worried the stallion would doze of during the competition when he was put under a greater amount of straint, but he couldn´t have been more wrong. Kerry had been on fire from the moment his hoofs left the trailer, showing of at the vet with his head high dancing around and demanding attention, and now, soaking in sweat and saliva he was still on the bit eagerly pushing on. They came out into the field right by the forest to another obstacle, and Kerry pointed his ears immediately when Nico steered him towards the narrow jump. It was one of the more technically challenging obstacles, made out of logs in shape of ancient greece ionic orders, the ones in the middle were hollowed though due to safety meassures. A few meters from the jump Karry slipped in the mud that had formed after all the other horses that had passed by earlier during the day, and Nico dropped the reins as he gripped the flaxen stallions mane. For a second he thought they were going to crash, and the entire scene flashed before his eyes, the horse on it´s side with broken legs, him next to it or in worst case under it. Getting injured would force him to sell the riding school he was trying his best to build and he´d have to move back home to his father who´d laugh at his failure. Then suddenly the stallion balanced himself and leapt like a cat, avoiding the rest of the mud and clearing the jump with Nico quickly grasping the reins again. As they landed on the dryer ground on the other side Nico thanked god and all other holy deities he could think of, as Kerry unaffected by the little misshap once again picked up his pace.


This was so much fun, again, first time I partake in an event and it´s so much fun...yes, a bit at loss for words so just gonna say I really enjoyed drawing Kerry and Nico, and making my own XC obstacle!^_^hope you like it!
